Burlington City Council approves Virtual Statutory Public Meetings

At Burlington City Council on Monday, May 25, Council received details on the City’s approach to virtual statutory public meetings in accordance with the Planning Act, and the addition of an August committee cycle of meetings.

The City of Burlington is allowing virtual statutory public meetings beginning this July. Staff are developing a process so virtual meetings can work as closely as possible to an in-person meeting. Residents are encouraged to pre-register but there will be staff in place to help those who need to register during the meeting.

For more information on how to participate at Statutory Public Meetings, follow this link, or to register to delegate at committee or council meeting, visit burlington.ca/delegate.

Burlington Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is now accepting new applications digitally. Please submit a complete digital application and drawings to committeeofadjustment@burlington.ca and ensure the subject line reads:

“New MV or Consent (chose one) Application_Applicant Name_Property Address.”

All documents should be submitted in PDF.

Staff will contact you to:

  1. Confirm the application fees and,
  2. Provide payment options: E-transfers are the preferred payment method and must be sent from a bank that recognizes auto-deposit. If this is not possible, cheques submitted via Canada Post mail and credit card payments can be accepted; processing times will be longer.

Committee of Adjustment meetings have been postponed for the time being. Staff are exploring alternate methods of conducting Committee of Adjustment meetings that will allow for an open and transparent process while abiding by the public participation component as stipulated under the Planning Act.

For further information and to stay up to date, visit the Committee of Adjustment website, or for any questions, send an e-mail to committeeofadjustment@burlington.ca.
