Hamilton, ON, December 1, 2020 – West End Home Builders’ Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Collins-Williams as its Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2021. Mike brings a wealth of expertise in planning, policy and government relations, having been a key contributor to the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) for over 17 years.
“I am very excited to join the team at the West End Home Builders’ Association and to be working with such an engaged membership in all aspects of the new home construction industry,” said Mike Collins-Williams. “I look forward to getting to work on behalf of our members and to collaborate with other stakeholders and our municipal partners as city builders building new communities and revitalizing existing neighbourhoods across the region.”
Mike Collins-Williams is a Registered Professional Planner with extensive experience in the new home building and development industry. He holds an Urban Planning Degree from Ryerson University and is a member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners. His most recent role as the Senior Planning & Policy Director for the Ontario Home Builders’ Association saw him lead the government relations strategy across a $66 billion industry. He provided extensive experience working with the provincial government on a wide variety of issues ranging from the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, transit planning and transit-oriented development, Provincial Policy Statement, environmental assessments, species at risk and Conservation Authorities.

With large-scale, multinational experience in planning and government relations, Mike has led several Canadian developer business delegations to some of the most innovative development centres in Scandinavia. He also offers his knowledge and expertise to a variety of technical advisory groups in Ontario, as well as to his alma mater, Ryerson University where he frequently joins as a guest lecturer. Mike is a co-author of several joint publications with the Pembina Institute and Ryerson University, including Make Way for Midrise, Make Way for Laneway and Suburbs on Track.
